Overview
Combines 2 to 9 photos into one picture using grid and feature layouts. Set the output width and aspect ratio, the spacing between photos, corner radius and background colour, drop photos into cells, drag cells to swap them, and zoom or pan each photo's crop. Export the collage as JPG or PNG at full resolution. Photos stay on your device.
How It Works
Pick a layout such as 2x2 grid, 1 large + 3, or 3 + 4 mosaic, then drop photos on the main area to fill empty cells in order, or drop one directly on a cell. Drag a filled cell onto another to swap them. Select a cell to zoom up to 3x and pan the crop horizontally and vertically, or remove its photo. Set width from 300 to 6000 px, an aspect ratio from 9:16 to 16:9, spacing, corner radius and background, then download the collage.
Step-by-Step Usage Guide
- Choose a layout with the number of photos you have.
- Drop your photos onto the drop area or onto specific cells.
- Swap cells by dragging, and zoom or pan any photo that is cropped badly.
- Set size, aspect ratio, spacing, corners and background colour.
- Pick JPG or PNG and click Download collage.
Technical Specifications & Standards
Each layout is a grid of columns and rows, with cells that can span several of either; tests check that every layout covers its grid exactly once. Pixel rectangles are computed from the output size and spacing: the spacing is used for both the outer margin and the gaps, the remaining space is divided evenly, and edges are rounded so neighbouring cells always sit exactly one gap apart. A cell spanning two rows also absorbs the gap between them, so its edges line up with the cells beside it. Photos fill their cells like CSS object-fit: cover, scaled to the larger of the width and height ratios and cropped from the centre. Zoom crops further in, and pan slides the crop across the area that would otherwise be cut off. Corners are clipped with a rounded rectangle path. The preview is drawn at reduced size; the export redraws everything at full size from the decoded photos, then encodes JPG at 92 percent quality or lossless PNG.
Targeted Use Cases
- Making a before and after comparison of a renovation or design change.
- Combining holiday photos into one square post for Instagram.
- Building a 9:16 story image with several product shots.
- Creating a team or event photo board for a newsletter.
Notes & Gotchas
- Use 1:1 or 4:5 for Instagram feed posts and 9:16 for stories.
- Put the strongest photo in the large cell of a feature layout.
- Keep spacing and radius modest, around 1 to 2 percent of the width, for a clean look.
- Export PNG if the collage has text or flat graphics, and JPG for photos.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I move a photo to a different cell?
Drag the filled cell in the cell grid onto another cell and the two swap places. You can also drop a file from your computer directly onto a cell to replace what is there.
Can I change how a photo is cropped in its cell?
Yes. Select the cell, then use Zoom to crop in and the two Pan sliders to move the visible area. The photo always fills the cell, so no empty bars appear.
What resolution is the exported collage?
The width you set, from 300 to 6000 px, with the height from the aspect ratio. A 1600 px square collage is plenty for social media; use larger sizes for printing.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Photos are decoded and drawn on a canvas in your browser, and the collage is encoded there too. Nothing is sent to a server.
