Image to PDF

Combine JPG and PNG images into a single PDF with page size, orientation, and margin controls. Fully offline.

Overview

Combine JPG and PNG images into a single PDF, one image per page, with page size, orientation and margin controls. Images are embedded at their full original resolution, page order is adjustable before generating, and the PDF is built entirely in your browser with pdf-lib - nothing is uploaded.

How It Works

Drop images one at a time or queue several; each appears as a numbered page row with a thumbnail, and non-image or oversized files are skipped with a count. Reorder pages with the up and down arrows on each row, or remove one with the trash button. Choose a page size - A4, US Letter or Fit image - and an orientation of auto, portrait or landscape (hidden for fit mode), then set the margin slider from 0 to 72 points. Press Generate PDF and a file named images.pdf downloads.

Step-by-Step Usage Guide

  1. Drop the images; each becomes a page in queue order.
  2. Reorder pages with the arrow buttons and remove strays with the trash icon.
  3. Choose A4, Letter or Fit image, and an orientation.
  4. Set the margin and press Generate PDF.

Technical Specifications & Standards

Under the hood the tool uses pdf-lib, creating one PDF page per image. JPEG and PNG files are embedded natively through embedJpg and embedPng, which means their pixel data is stored losslessly in the PDF - no re-encoding, no quality loss. Anything else you can drop, such as GIF, WebP or BMP, is first drawn to a canvas and re-encoded as PNG before embedding, since the PDF image model only takes JPEG and PNG directly. A4 is placed at 595.28 by 841.89 points and Letter at 612 by 792, the standard PDF page dimensions; in fit mode the page is created exactly the image's size plus twice the margin, so a photo can fill its page edge to edge. In fixed sizes the image is scaled uniformly - never stretched - to fit the page minus margins on both axes and centred. Orientation auto chooses portrait or landscape per image based on which is wider, rather than forcing one rotation for the whole document.

Targeted Use Cases

  • Assembling scanned receipts or documents into one emailable PDF.
  • Sending a portfolio of photos as a single attachment.
  • Building a simple picture book with one image per page.
  • Converting screenshots into a paginated report appendix.

Notes & Gotchas

  • Check the page order with the thumbnails before generating - the PDF follows the queue exactly.
  • Use Fit image with a small margin when full-bleed photos matter more than printability.
  • Remember GIF and WebP inputs are re-encoded as PNG, which can increase file size for photos.
  • Keep JPG or PNG sources where possible so images embed without re-encoding.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is image quality reduced when making the PDF?

Not for JPG and PNG inputs - they are embedded at full resolution without re-encoding. Other formats are first converted to PNG by a canvas pass, which is lossless for the pixel data.

How does the Fit image option differ from A4?

Fit image creates each page exactly the size of its image plus your margins, so nothing is scaled. A4 and Letter scale the image uniformly to fit the fixed page, centred with equal margins.

Can I control the page order?

Yes. Every queued image has up and down arrows, and the PDF is assembled in exactly the order shown before you press Generate.

Does this work offline?

Once the page and the pdf-lib library are loaded, the PDF is built entirely in your browser. No image is ever uploaded.
