Overview
A template-based graphic designer for Instagram posts and stories, YouTube thumbnails, Facebook and LinkedIn banners, posters, flyers, menus and business cards. Start from one of the built-in templates or a blank size preset, edit text, shapes, icons, images, QR codes, tables and charts, then export PNG, JPG, SVG or a print-ready PDF with bleed and crop marks. Everything runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
How It Works
Pick a template or a size preset such as Instagram post (1080 x 1080 px), YouTube thumbnail (1280 x 720 px) or A4 poster (210 x 297 mm). Click any element to select it, drag to move, pull a handle to resize and use the round handle to rotate. The Properties panel edits fonts, colours, gradients, outlines, shadows and curved text, and the Layers list locks, hides and reorders elements. Add pages for a brochure or deck, save brand colours and fonts, then open Export and choose the format.
Step-by-Step Usage Guide
- Choose a template from the Templates tab, or open the Open dialog and start a blank design at a size preset.
- Double-click text to edit it in place, and use the Properties panel for font, size, spacing, colour, outline, shadow and arc.
- Add shapes, frames, icons, stickers, QR codes, tables or charts from the Elements tab, and upload, paste or drop your own photos.
- Align, distribute, group and lock elements, and add or reorder pages in the strip under the canvas.
- Use Resize to adapt the design to another platform size, then check the layout.
- Open Export and download PNG or JPG at 1x to 4x, SVG, or a PDF with bleed and crop marks for print.
Technical Specifications & Standards
Every page is drawn by one SVG renderer, so the canvas, the template thumbnails and every export show the same result. Print presets are defined in millimetres and laid out at 96 design pixels per inch, so an A4 page is 793.7 x 1122.5 px on the canvas and a 300 DPI export scales it by 3.125 to 2480 x 3508 px. Print designs show a red bleed line, a blue trim line and a green safe-area line; in print mode the PDF page grows by the bleed plus room for crop marks, shapes and images touching a trim edge are extended into the bleed, and pdf-lib writes a TrimBox and BleedBox for the printer. Resize to another preset scales content by the smaller of the width and height ratios so nothing distorts, keeps each element's centre at the same relative position and stretches full-width bands to the new edges. Curved text lays each glyph along a circular arc whose length equals the straight text width. Fonts are limited to web-safe and system families such as Arial, Georgia, Impact and Segoe UI because a browser cannot embed web fonts when it rasterises SVG. Designs autosave to IndexedDB and the brand kit to local storage; opened .cruxdesign files are checked so they can only reference images stored inside the file.
Targeted Use Cases
- Making a weekly Instagram post and matching story from the same design with Resize.
- Designing a YouTube thumbnail with outlined headline text, a sticker and a bold gradient.
- Preparing an A4 or A5 event flyer as a PDF with 3 mm bleed and crop marks for a print shop.
- Laying out a two-sided business card at 85 x 55 mm with a QR code that links to your site.
- Building a short multi-page brochure, cafe menu or pitch deck with tables and simple charts.
Notes & Gotchas
- Keep text and logos inside the green safe-area line on print designs, since trimming can drift by a millimetre or two.
- Let background colours and photos run to the page edge so they extend into the bleed and leave no white sliver.
- Export social graphics at 2x for sharp results on high-density phone screens.
- Save brand colours and fonts in the Brand kit so every new design starts on-brand.
- Scan a printed QR code with a phone before ordering a full print run.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is it free, and does it work without an account?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no upload. Designs, uploaded images and your brand kit stay in this browser, saved in IndexedDB and local storage, and you can keep a portable copy with Save as a .cruxdesign file.
How do I make a print-ready PDF with bleed and crop marks?
Start from a print preset such as A4, A3, Letter, A5 flyer or business card, keep important content inside the safe area, then choose PDF in Export with Print mode and Crop marks switched on. The PDF is sized to the trim plus bleed and includes a TrimBox and BleedBox.
What resolution are print exports?
Print designs export at 300 DPI by default, and you can set anywhere from 72 to 600 DPI in the Export dialog. An A4 page at 300 DPI is 2480 x 3508 pixels, and the PDF embeds one image per page at that resolution.
Can I resize an Instagram post into a story or YouTube thumbnail?
Use Resize and pick the new preset. Elements keep their relative positions and scale uniformly so text and logos do not stretch, while full-width bands stretch to the new edges. Check the result, since a square layout moved to a tall story usually needs small adjustments.
Why can I only choose from system fonts?
Exports are rendered by drawing SVG into a canvas, and browsers do not load web fonts in that step. Limiting the list to fonts installed with Windows, macOS and most Linux systems keeps the download identical to what you see on screen.
Is the PDF text selectable?
Yes, with the vector PDF option. Text set in Arial, Helvetica, Times New Roman or Courier New is written as live PDF text, and shapes and gradients stay vector. Text in other system fonts, plus shadows, filters and emoji, is drawn as a high-resolution image for that element only. The flattened PDF option still renders every page as one image.
