Overview
Rotates and flips many images at once in your browser. Apply 90, 180 or 270 degrees, or any custom angle from -180 to 360, mirror horizontally or vertically, and keep JPG or WebP files in their own format or convert all to PNG. Results keep their file names and download one by one or as a ZIP, with before and after sizes.
How It Works
Drop the images, up to 200 at a time. Choose one of the quick rotations or drag the custom angle slider, and tick the flip options you want. A preview shows the first image with the transform applied. For angles that are not right angles, the canvas grows to fit and you choose transparent corners or a fill colour; JPG output always uses the fill. Click Apply, follow the progress bar or Cancel, and download from the results table.
Step-by-Step Usage Guide
- Drop the images you want to rotate or flip.
- Pick a quick rotation or set a custom angle.
- Tick Flip horizontal or Flip vertical if needed.
- Choose whether to keep JPG and WebP formats and how to fill corners.
- Click Apply and download the files or the ZIP.
Technical Specifications & Standards
Each image is decoded with its EXIF orientation applied, so a phone photo stored sideways with an orientation flag is rotated from what you actually see, not from the raw sensor data. That is a common cause of photos turning the wrong way in other tools. The canvas is sized to the rotated bounding box: width and height swap for 90 and 270 degrees, and other angles use the absolute cosine and sine of the angle, so no corners are cut off. Drawing translates to the centre, rotates, scales by -1 on the flipped axes and draws the image centred, which keeps right-angle results pixel-aligned. The output is re-encoded: PNG losslessly, and JPG or WebP at 95 percent quality when Keep format is on. Because the pixels are rebuilt, EXIF data including the orientation flag is not written, so viewers that would apply the flag again show the result correctly. Images over 50 megapixels are scaled down first.
Targeted Use Cases
- Fixing a batch of scanned pages that came out upside down.
- Mirroring selfies so the text in the background reads the right way.
- Rotating a set of portrait photos to landscape for a slideshow.
- Straightening a slightly tilted photo with a small custom angle.
Notes & Gotchas
- Keep the originals, since JPG output is re-encoded at 95 percent quality.
- Use transparent corners with PNG for custom angles you will crop later.
- Check the preview with the first image before running a large batch.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is rotating a JPG lossless?
Not here. Images are decoded and re-encoded at 95 percent quality, which is visually very close but not bit-identical. For strictly lossless JPG rotation, desktop tools such as jpegtran can rearrange blocks without re-encoding.
Why do my photos come out the right way up when other tools turn them sideways?
Phones often store photos sideways with an EXIF orientation flag. This tool applies that flag when decoding and does not write it again, so the result looks the same everywhere.
What happens to the corners with a custom angle?
The canvas grows to fit the whole rotated image, leaving triangular corners. They stay transparent for PNG and WebP, or use your fill colour, which JPG always needs.
Can I rotate HEIC files?
Only in Safari, which can decode HEIC. Other browsers cannot read HEIC images at all, so convert them first with the HEIC to JPG converter in Safari.
